Studied in Berlin . He appeared in operetta and opera debut 1889 at Dusseldorf .1890 at the Mannheim court theater. Here he sang on 7 June 1896 in the premiere of the opera "The Corregidor" by Hugo Wolf the title hero. In 1903 he was engaged as the first Spieltenor to the Dresden Court Opera. On 1.10.1903 he participated in the premiere of the opera "Alpenkönig und Menschenfeind" by Leo Blech, on 9.12.1905 he sang in Dresden in the world premiere of the Richard Strauss opera "Salome" a small role, on 26.1.1912 the Valzacchi in the world premiere of the "Rosenkavaliers", 1913 in the "Coeur As" by Eduard Künneke. Until 1922 he belonged to the ensemble of this house and became very popular in Dresden
