Studied in Grunn with Adolf Robinson.Debut 1896 as a baritone as Telramund in “ “Lohengrin” by Wagner He was engaged at the Berlin opera 1898 .He sang at the Bayreuth Festival 1901,1906 & 1908 .He retired for a year to study with Oscar Sanger for his change to a tenor . His tenor debut was as Lohengrin in “Lohengrin” by Wagner in Berlin in 1909.He made guest appearances in Paris , New York ,London,Prague and Amsterdam.His roles included both baritone and tenor . he sang Siegmund,Lohengrin,Walther, Pasifal , Tristan and Tannhauser.
