Monument to Buçaco Battle.

Buçaco Battle brought about the defeat of General Massena's troops in 1810, within the 3rd napoleonic invasion of Portugal.
This monument was erected in 1873 and its location and characteristics of lightning rod caused its destruction by a thunderstorm in 1876. It was reconstructed in 1879.

This brand-new car is a replica of Ford T of a century ago, used in tourism. I spotted it at Commerce Street, Lisbon downtown, where others like this can be seen. It's an electric car, of the Chinese brand Yatian.

Papyrus (or paper reed).

In ancient Egypt this plant was used to produce the predecessor of paper - named papyrus, after the plant. Writing or painting on it was an useful possibility. Nowadays there is an offer of painted papyrus to the visitors of Egypt, which is enough to keep the traditional manufacture alive.

It can be seen at Chão das Artes Garden, as many other plants used in paintings, either in canvas or in paints. This garden can be seen within Cerca House, an estate that was acquired by the municipality of Almada.

This 60 years old hotel of Tomar has had a good maintenance and been modernized. The view over River Nabão and Mouchão Park is splendid.

This is a view through the bars of a gate on a wall of Tomar Castle. The aqueduct supplied the convent.

Another of the several cloisters of Tomar's Christ Convent, UNESCO heritage since 1983. It was called "Micha" because it was from there that the monks distributed loaves of bread ("miches" in French) to the poorest people.

This is one among several cloisters of Tomar's Christ Convent, UNESCO heritage since 1983. The cistern Is right below this cloister, and the well on the foreground made easier the access to the stored water.
