On the background stands Mount Cara, with Lazareto by the coast. Dark clouds prevailed most of the time (September is the rainy season), but rain was no more than a drizzle, except for an afternoon, when an umbrella became very convenient.

At Mindelo Cemetery, São Vicente Island, Cape Verde.
Born in 1941 at Mindelo, she died in her birth city in 2011, at the age of 70. She spread Cape-verdean music through the world, namely "morna", which was classified in 2019 as UNESCO immaterial heritage.

A friend's friend gently took us in a tour at Mindelo in his pickup. Here we stopped to see the large cemetery of São Vicente capital.

One of several that were installed long ago at João Ribeiro Point, to protect Mindelo and the Cape-verdean island of São Vicente from maritime invasions.
Pássaros Islet.

This islet became a reserve for birds in 1973. It has a lighthouse on the top (82 metres of altitude). It is located at the exit of Mindelo Bay, 1 km far from João Ribeiro Point, where this photo was taken (with zoom).
