Northern Shrike with a Kill
I was surprised to spot this bird on our fence today. It is an immature Northern Shrike that spends most of the year in The Northwest Territories of Canada, and Alaska. After I took the shot through our window I noticed that it had killed a sparrow. It flew off carrying its prize.
Needless to say, this is a first time encounter seeing this bird.

The mist was rising mixed with dust from harvesting caught our attention and I had to pull over the car to get this shot. The sun was setting quickly so I knew this scene would not last for long.
