Drying fish heads at Sauðárkrókur harbour


Not so very long ago Icelanders ate the fish heads themselves and exported the fillets. Now the heads are exported to Africa.

Dida From Augsburg club has replied to Gudrun clubHab erst am Sonntag zufällig irgendeine "Auswanderer-Serie" im Fernsehen gesehen - da mussten zwei Jungs einen Teller voll "Surströmming" essen, um am Ende ein Luxusdinner zu gewinnen - sie haben´s zwar gemacht, aber dem einen war dann so schlecht, dass er abends nichts mehr essen konnte! ;-DD
Gudrun club has replied to Dida From Augsburg clubWahrscheinlich kommt es immer auf die Gegebenheiten an, ob man sich an sowas wagt- in fröhlicher Runde nach ein zwei Bier traut man sich da vermutlich eher. Aber bei manchen Sachen ist es sicher gut, wenn man vorher nicht weiß, was es ist! An die Hammelhoden würde ich mich vielleicht trauen, aber wohl eher nicht an Schafaugen- wenn einen das Essen anglotzt- nee!

Gudrun club has replied to Diane Putnam clubDried fish can be quite nice, actually! In Norway and Iceland you can buy fish chips, a healthy snack. As long they stay dry and crsipy they taste good:-)
