I knew there was something different about this but could not put my finger on it until I read your observation. And you are right, it is as though a diver with a strong searchlight has visited and recorded a spooky underwater house, like something abandoned because of a reservoir scheme yet oddly preserved. I could not make this photograph again if I tried, and that for me is the beauty of what we do.

Yes, it’s easy for me to envisage the reservoir that sits in front of my window rising stealthily to the eaves. Divers would then be necessary. Prospero’s books would need to be retrieved...though some would argue that they should be left to rot.
