Cologne - Bei Oma Kleinmann

Cologne is the fourth-largest city in Germany - and one of the oldest. A Germanic tribe, the Ubii, had a settlement here, this was named by the Romans "Oppidum Ubiorum". In 50 AD, the Romans founded "Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium", the city then became the provincial capital of "Germania Inferior".
The area west of the Volksgarten, near the University of Cologne, is dubbed "Kwartier Latäng" - the namesacke in Paris is the "Quartier Latin".
This is the place, where the students (and other young people) get entertained in many clubs, bars and pubs. In between in the old Restaurant "Bei Oma Kleinmann", known for the best schnitzels in Cologne.
Paula Kleinmann (called Oma Kleimann, Oma = granny) ) opened a restaurant here in 1949 named "Der Goldene Krug". The dishes were good and Oma Kleinmann gained some prominence. In, when nobody remembered the original name of the restaurant, it got renamed in "Bei Oma Kleinmann", the name anybody knew. Oma Kleinmann passed away in 2009, but her successors still keep up the good quality.
