Cologne - Bonner Strasse

Cologne is the fourth-largest city in Germany - and one of the oldest. A Germanic tribe, the Ubii, had a settlement here, this was named by the Romans "Oppidum Ubiorum". In 50 AD, the Romans founded "Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium", the city then became the provincial capital of "Germania Inferior".
"Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium" was knit into the network of Roman roads. An important one run straight south via Bonna (= Bonn), Rigomagus (=Remagen), Antunnacum (=Andernach), Confluentes (= Koblenz), etc. This was the shortest road to Italy.
The layout of this road can still be seen in Cologne. It starts near the cathedral and runs via Hohe Strasse, Severin Strasse, Bonner Strasse.
While "Hohe Strasse" is the main shopping area, "Severin Strasse "and "Bonner Strasse" are in the vibrant "Südstadt", where many bars, restaurants, pubs, bars and clubs are located. Here are three restaurants, that by now can only sell "take away" food. "485 GRAD" offers pizza, "Einburgerung" offers burgers and (my preferred) "Vina Asia Express" offers Asian dishes (PiPs).
