Cologne - Vorgebirgstrasse

Cologne is the fourth-largest city in Germany - and one of the oldest. A Germanic tribe, the Ubii, had a settlement here, this was named by the Romans "Oppidum Ubiorum". In 50 AD, the Romans founded "Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium", the city then became the provincial capital of "Germania Inferior".
Cologne had a population of about 120.000 in 1867 - and 370.000 in 1900.
The number tripled within 30 years - and the growth continued to about 740.000 in 1930.
Large areas of farm land all around the city were developed and suburbs sprouted, that are now quarters of Cologne. One is "Cologne-Zollstock", south of Neustadt-Süd. Along the Vorgebirgstrasse "housing cooperatives" erected large blocks in the 1920. Meanwhile these houses, that all have a distinctive style, are renovated and under protection.
Vorgebirgstrasse 145 - 165 was built 1926/27.
