Sangüesa - Santa María la Real

"Santa María la Real" was one of the reasons, to continue my walk in Jaca. I had been here before, when the facade was under renovation, hidden behind scaffoldings. That time I was very disappointed.
I knew the facade would be more impressing, when I would reach the place having walked a distance. When I arrived, it was hot, I was exhausted - and it was absolutely impressing! The southern portal of Santa María la Real is a masterpiece of late Romanesque style! Carved within the 12th/13th century. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims have been in medieval times here, all staring at this portal, mouths wide open.
This is the first photo I took, after I arrived late afternoon. I had taken a tripod with me to take photos here. I decided to stay an extra day in Sangüesa. I wanted to see these carvings in the morning, at noontime, in the afternoon and in the evening. I took lots of photos, that I will upload later.
