Rainbow Mountain

Rainbow Mountain, in the Alaska Range, is one of my favorites. The area used to be the bed of the sea and atop the mountain are fossilized sea shells. When my children were old enough, between 8 and 10 years old, I hiked them up the mountain and let them "discover" the sea shells.
I took my Japanese visitors down to this area yesterday, braving high winds, rain, forest fire smoke, a good time was had by all!
