At Rest It's the only church I have seen with a ring to guide the bell ropes, there must be a name for it but unto now I've not found one. The wall painting is of a demon above two arguing women who have smaller demons on their backs it dates to the 13th century it was part of a larger painting but most of it was scraped clean during Victorian restorations this section survived because it was hidden by a plaque

St. Peters Although the earliest part of the church dates back to the 13th century and there was probably an earlier church on the site the Lych Gate is relatively modern it is a war memorial erected by the Rev. H. Cooper in remembrance of his son and other eight men from the village who perished in WWI their names are recorded on a tablet inside the gate. The carving reads For God King and Country the rear one reading Christ is Risen From the Dead. The photo has been edited I removed a post, three notices, a lamp post and the chain on the gate
