Barn Owl

Barn Owl
The few times I've had the chance to photograph a Barn Owl (in captivity), I've always found them difficult to photograph. Unlike other owl species, you can barely see their eyes, and they do have a very unusual look about them. This was one of the owls that was brought to Bow Valley Provincial Park all the way from the Coaldale Bird of Prey Centre near Lethbridge, for Parks Day on 21 July 2013. I'm alway surprised at how small theese Barn Owls are. A few years ago, I got to hold one when I was down at the Coaldale Centre.

"Edgar" is a permanent resident at the Coaldale Bird of Prey Centre. In Canada, Barn Owls are found primarily in areas of BC and Ontario.
