A ring of hearts

A ring of hearts
One of my favourite wildflowers to photograph, with its beautiful ring of tiny, green hearts. Too many flowers on a cluster, though, so it's not easy to get an individual flower without any bits of side stems, buds, etc. in the way. Ha, I was in a hurry taking this one, too, as the sky was black and we thought we were in for a thunderstorm at any moment! Taken while botanizing the hillside that belongs to the Leighton Art Centre, SW of Calgary, on 6 July 2013.

Sorry, everyone, I forgot to add the name of this small flower! It's Zigadenus elegans / Mountain death camas, White camas. Belongs to the Lily family. The green, heart-shaped parts are the nectar glands.

Not sure what this 6-petal flower is Anne, but it looks like the flower of a Green Cabomba (NA Native) ... but that has yellow-ish hearts near the stamen area(??) and the petal shapes are different ... excellent macro of this one!!

or an Ornithogalum Flower species (??)

Haha, think I found it ... maybe a Zigadenus elegans (aka Anticlea elegans, Alkali Grass, Mountain Death-camas), which is a rare wildflower ... a good find!!
