The 'A to Z' hoarding in Broad Street is no more :-(
Today in Oxford was sad because one of my fave photo places is now quite different. The 'A to Z' hoarding in Broad Street has gone! Now replaced, as you will see, by some non-photogenic metal barriers! These are to be removed soon.
The redeveloped New Bodleian library building has been renamed as the Weston Library in honour of a £25 million donation given in March 2008 by the Garfield Weston Foundation toward its transformation into an advanced special collections library and cultural centre. The Weston Library is now open to readers and researchers of special collections. An official opening is planned for March 2015. The newly-renovated building will accommodate readers of Special Collections with excellent facilities for scholarship (info from the Bodleian Libraries website).
Now, what shall I photograph? :-)

This is similar to an older upload. In this shot I have included the University Church of St Mary the Virgin in the background. Taken from inside the Divinity School.
Possibly better on black :-)

MUSIC IS COMIN' HOME :-)))
Leave me in the rain-send me out to sea
Lock me up in chains-throw away the key
The day I ever get too old to dream
Until yesterday I had no idea that Kenny Loggins, Georgia Middleman and Gary Burr are the 'Blue Sky Riders' !!
I was going to ask Helen if it was ok to ask Georgia to marry me............but I'm sure I read she is married to Gary. I'll survive I guess :-(
Have ordered their “Finally Home” album from the States and now desperate for the postman to call :-)
In the lyrics it says “send me out to sea” so, for me, that is enough of a tenuous link to use this photo :-))

Happy Fence Friday :-)
I get the impression that the young lady at the back of this group is not ever so interested in what the tour guide is saying :-))

~ Explored! ~ Thank you very much :-)))
Have been stressed and totally side-tracked by a serious water leak at our house. Contractors have been here for last two days and, hopefully, have now fixed the leak after digging up the driveway and the garden!!
I am now desperate to catch-up here on ipernity and it looks like it is goin' to take me quite a while :-)
This shot was taken thru' a music shop window in Oxford and I think it links pretty well to the the classic "Strength of Strings" by Gene Clark but here performed by 'The Gene Clark No Other Band'.

“Train Leaves Here This Morning”

An easy link today methinks :-)
“Train Leaves Here This Morning” written by Gene Clark and Bernie Leadon comes from the legendary album “The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark”.
Gene passed away May 24, 1991 at only 46 years old
Doug passed away May 16, 2012 at 75 years old
RIP Gene & Doug
From Wikipedia -
“The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark is a country rock album by Dillard & Clark. The album was recorded in 1968, shortly after Gene Clark departed The Byrds for the second time, and Doug Dillard left The Dillards. The album is hailed by critics and musicians as a masterpiece of the country rock genre.”

~ Explored! ~ Thank you very much :-)))
I was going to try and NOT upload any shots to 'Soundtrack to Life' for a day or two and concentrate on 'Non-StoL' shots :-)
But, David ('youngerthanyesterday') has reminded me of the brilliance of Dr John :-)
It looks like it will soon be 'Night' in Stowe Landscape Gardens so I figure I can you use a fairly tenuous link to “Such A Night” by Dr John performed at “The Last Waltz” :-)

"Willin'
|
|
|
|
From Wikipedia -
"Written in 1970, "Willin'" was a mainstay of Little Feat, the band Lowell George had helped to found in 1970 and was a leading member of until his death on June 29, 1979. The song, John Tobler contends in the liner notes of As Time Goes By. The Very Best of Little Feat (1993), "quickly became a favorite among America’s truckdrivers, many of whom continue to regard it as the anthem of their profession . . . although absurdly it never has been a hit."

I am taking a lead from Karen here and giving another link below in case the above link doesn't work :-)
Willin' ~ Linda Ronstadt
And, following Karen's great idea.... if neither of the above work here is another link :-)
Willin' ~ Linda Ronstadt
I cannot get enough of these three versions. In my humble opinion three of the best live performances .....ever!! :-) And, 'cos as Karen already knows :-) and as everyone else is probably starting to realise, Linda is at the top of my fave list :-)

This was taken in Stowe School Library. I don't know the name of the Horse so I think this links neatly to "A Horse With No Name" by America. Am I clever or not? :-)

This shot is a little bit similar to one of my previous uploads albeit this was taken from a slightly different angle. There are some bits of fencing here so I thought this will be okay for HFF :-)

"Alone Again Or"
|
|
|
|
~ Explored! ~ Thank you very much :-)))
This is a faily old candid shot taken in Stowe Landscape Gardens. Thought it was good to link this to "Alone Again Or" by Love from their masterpiece album "Forever Changes" released in November 1967.
I didn't know until I looked at Wikipedia that Bryan MacLean who wrote this song "died in Los Angeles of a heart attack at age 52 on December 25, 1998 whilst having dinner with a young fan who was researching a book about Love." And, that Arthur Lee "had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and died of this disease on August 3, 2006 in his home town of Memphis, Tennessee, at age 61."
I also came across a version of this song by "Gold Lake". I know nowt about them but I like their version :-) I think I can have two links for Soundtrack to Life.............please :-)
