The Breathtaking Catalina Macaw Hybrid!

A few days ago I posted a fun portrait of this bird, and here is another picture to feast your eyes on! What a beauty! I am fascinated by animal husbandry, so seeing the hybrids featured at Chris Biro's Pirate's Parrot Show was fascinating to me. I was so surprised to find out that this hybrid (Scarlet x Blue & Gold) can occur in the wild, since the parent birds are so different in coloration! However, when mates of the same species are not available, this cross-breeding sometimes happens.
I founf a fascinating website that discusses the known captive and wild hybrid crosses with pictures and a lot of information. Animal World: Hybrid Macaws
If you would like to know more about Catalina Macaws, I found a page here: Catalina Macaws To learn about Chris Biro's wonderful parrot conservation organization, please visit Bird Recovery International
By the way, I've uploaded two other pictures today and I hope you'll visit them too!
Thanks to all of you who have visited and have left comments and favorites! I try to go to all of your pages within a day or two and is a highlight for me to see your beautiful photography! :)
