My Mother's Cousin

This is Olive (Earp), holding her nephew, Roger.
It looks like post-war pre-fab houses in the background, created for victims of bombing.
Roger's mother, Ivy, had her house in London bombed during the war. She was deeply affected by the terror of that and I believe she had a sort of breakdown based on information given to me by Roger - who now lives in Canada.
Roger was sent to live with his Aunt Olive until Ivy recovered.

Here is what Roger wrote to me:
"Yes that would be me in the next picture and the beloved lady holding me was Olive ( who, along with Bob and Sheila would become a big part of my life). I was born Nov. 50 in the room on the other side of the window in the first picture.
The pic. of Olive and I must be about June 1951 going by the size of me and no garden in the front of the house. Allan is eight years older than I and could easily be the little boy in the background .
Fantastic pictures Deb.Thanks. I have seen them before (somewhere in the past) and all info you have is correct except the location. Luton is way north of London and the area that was developed for the bombed out Londoners was South Ockendon. If you look on a map of Essex you can see that its south/east of London not to far from Southend (20 miles). I remember the place well even the address 100 Tamarisk Rd. sth. Ockendon Essex. Its a shame that there are no remains of the old project now. Even the pub (the plough) that was established some time in the early 1800 that stood right in the middle of the project was torn down."
