Spoon Reflections

Macro Mondays 2.0: Spoon Abstract
I have been struggling creatively these last several weeks and not happy with much I have been doing. I wasn't even able to get the right settings to accomplish this image with my Nikon, so instead used my iPhone camera which did a far better job of capturing the image as I wanted it. In the note is another image I took with my Nikon last night for the challenge, but wasn't satisfied with the outcome.
Have a great week everyone!

Valfal club has replied to TaorminaTaormina has replied to Valfal clubIt's hard to believe that you've been struggling with your creativity because quite honestly, this is a gallery-worthy shot in my opinion, it's that good!! And taken with your iphone!! WOW!! I'm so impressed! :) And though I really like your inset, it's not in the same league as the outstanding main image. Really fantastic. I do know what it's like to have no creative energy though. Maybe a break is in order...we only have so much energy in the day and the world pulls us every which way with other things to explore!
Valfal club has replied to Janet Brien clubMakes me think of all the possible reasons why phone camera sometimes seem to give better results =)
One reason is maybe "Lomography", aka using camera, which does not give too perfect results. Recently I've been watching photography videos by James Popsys, and he has a good approach on such things as "noise" and "dynamic range":
Dynamic Range - Does it matter? youtu.be/FFxO1bEV3fg
Noise in your photos? Who cares... youtu.be/gxxrZhjo0TE
Then, another thing is what seen on your main photo. Because the phone camera has a small lens, and it is often near the edge of the phone, one can actually get much closer to the "ground level", and to much tighter places than with "real" cameras. And then it helps to get "the rule of the unusual technique" done out of Philippe Halsman's list:

This is no exception!! The spots and their reflections really make it for me.
Perhaps the iphone did better because you could get lower? ie a different (otherwise impossible) POV?
Best wishes
Peter
