End of the Road...

End of the Road...
My photo using a PicMonkey texture
Photographed at Assateague Island, MD, this is what's left of the road that was put in to develop the Island into a beach resort. The idea was tabled after a destructive hurricane blew through in 1962, which effectively separated Assateague from Ocean City. Thereafter, the island has been overseen by the National Park Service. See the original photo in the note.

Oh this works well Val ... hurricanes have driven many development dreams into the ocean that's for sure. On Topsail Beach in North Carolina there is a section where homes used to be and now all you see are driveways ending at the waters edge. They not only lost their homes but the land is no longer there. People still insist on building where Mother Nature is constantly changing the landscape.

Thank you so much, Chris! :))) I agree, barrier islands were never intended to be lived on, and Assateague Island proves the point.

Yes this road is certainly not going anywhere. We are lucky that we don't suffer like you do with your hurricanes, it does cause such a lot of destruction.

Thanks, Jenny, that's why I would never live at the shore (though I wish I could, lol)

Another fabulous combination of image and texture. This has a really creepy, almost apocalyptic feel to it ... like a scene from The Walking Dead, just need a few zombies! ;)

Thanks so much, Paul! Yeah, a few zombies would certainly add to the atmosphere, wouldn't it, lol!
