Square format, eye led in all directions, migraine-inducing, unnatural, contrived, blurred, too much sky, not enough lead-in, needs cropping, harsh... Just dire.

The shingled broach spire is famous for its "distinctive twist".

The Parish Church of St Mary and All Saints, Chesterfield, is AKA "The Church of the Crooked Spire". The spire is both twisted and leaning, twisting 45 degrees and leaning 9 feet 6 inches from its true centre. The deformation is due possibly to the scarcity of skilled craftsmen (the Black Death had been gone only twelve years prior to the spire's completion), insufficient cross-bracing, and the use of unseasoned timber.
