Iguazu Falls, Brazil

Everything about this is terrific, from the silhouetted tree to the wonderfull light, shade and steaminess of the cascade.

Thanks. Conditions are rarely perfect for photography there. I was lucky in that I saw the falls after a few days of heavy rain following a dry spell, and when sunny. The downside to there being a lot of water cascading down is the large amount of spray, which makes most views look hazy and unsharp.

There are many, many more falls within the Iguazu area than are included here. Photographs never quite do the place justice. You have to be there to hear the mighty roar of thousands of tons of water falling and crashing from a great height and to feel the trembling - the unending earthquake - of the ground under your feet, which can be felt for miles around.
