Pumping Station - 24 June 2014

This is another in my occasional series of observational shots recording what might appear to be a very mundane subject. This wastewater pumping station is at the junction of Barncroft Way and Woodgreen Avenue in Havant (Leigh Park).

For those of you who like minute details and history (as I do), I have included, as an inset, a view of the notice attached to the building. Southern Water Services Ltd. came into being in 1989 with the privatisation of the UK water industry. Although the name 'Southern Water' exists today, ownership is a bit less obvious since the industry became more a way of making money than providing water and associated services. The probable age of the notice can be gauged from the fact that the STD code for Winchester became 01962 on PhONEday, 16 April 1995.
