The Truth's Daughter


Diana Corbin (circa 1816 - 1904), was the oldest and longest lived child of former slave, abolitionist, preacher and advocate for women's rights, Sojourner Truth. She married Jacob Corbin (died 1911, buried in Oakhill Cemetery) but separated after a few years. They had one son named Frank, born circa 1861.
Her mother, Sojourner Truth, had a total of five children: Diana (circa 1816 - 1904), Peter (circa 1822 - ?), James (died in infancy), Elizabeth (circa 1825 - 1861), and Sophia (circa 1826 - 1901).
Diana died of chronic illness penniless in the county poorhouse on October 25, 1904. She is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery next to her mother in Battle Creek, Michigan.
