Discarded Prospector Gear Still Litters "Trail of 98" ... (1898, that is)
This little duo (snapshots) is of an historic, but little visited place, where legions of gold prospectors made repeated trips over an arduous mountain pass, merely to get all their gear to the starting point of the trip to the Yukon goldfields. Many died, more gave up, a very few got rich.

What an interesting historical remnant...being a born and raised San Franciscan, I know all about the crazy gold rush scene, but the stories run so far and wide and the tidbits are always interesting. I also liked your other picture showing the trail, so rocky! They sure worked hard for not a lot, if for nothing at all. BTW, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre has, and shall always been, one of my all-time favorite films. What a show. "Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!" Eine sehr interessante und historische Örtlichkeit! Leider hatte ich auf meiner Reise keine Zeit diese Stelle zu besuchen! Danke für diese zwei interessanten Bilder!
