Hi Steve ... actually, what one cannot see here, is how steep the slope is on this forested riverbank: very steep! with a only couple of small natural terraces to save the odd careless hiker..
In the background, barely seen, is the Penobscot River; a large and powerful river, here tidal -- with the large tidal fluctuation common to the region.
