So good that it almost looks staged Peter. You must have expected that butterfly to be there for a while or land there.
- I give up - I have looked in my many book of British wildlife and extensively on the net to find the type of butterfly/moth here but without success. Its a rare one for sure!
- ooops just seen Rosa's research above and it seems that she is right and in that case a US insect - no wonder I had no success :) Not seen in your garden then Peter ?

No, the shot was not staged, he was free to fly off whenever he wanted. (I have six pictures of him in different poses for the short time he was there.)
And, no he was not in my garden either! The map is pretty accurate, which explains all!
