but I do like this idea.. Everyone could take their scarecrows to the village park, put the blokes on one side, the girls on the other, and leave them to it!

It is an alternative to the village fete which can't be held for obvious reasons. As many houses as possible can make a scarecrow, and decorate their gardens with them! A small prize for the winner!
