Well, both my father and I are diabetic so we have to be careful with sugars, but these are some of the more OK fruit we can have.

For photographic purposes placing the raspberries and blueberries in the bowl was just perfect! I'm sure they didn't live long after the photo....

I used to love going to craft fairs etc, because you see items like your bowl, which are unique. If as you say - the bowl is heavy - I should imagine it would keep hot food quite hot for a while. Have a great week.

Well my dad's an atheist in a very deep sense and my mum is profoundly catholic (and they've somehow been happily married these past 65 years), so ideas for Christmas are usually problematic but I'll give your idea some thought Josianne!

My mum is very proud of her kitchen and it is indeed big enough to be the heart of the home. The red tiles cover this table which dominates the room (it's big!) and also the working surfaces and some of the walls. They make for a very cheerful and bright kitchen!

That's sweet of you to mention. Indeed my husband, Larry Beckett, wrote the lyrics. It's fun to search for all the version of the song recorded by so many people, but the link Andy gives is to the original and, in my view, best. Unless you like opera - then you can find a version by English opera singer, Alfie Boe.

An interesting thread developing! Yes, Isabel and Laura, I recall our conversations about Laura's talented husband. I've been fond of Tim Buckley since I first heard him on vinyl in the South of France in 1972, My French exchange partner - via my school - had the album Greetings From L. A. which I still think is one of his finest!
By the way, I'm still in contact with him after all these years, even though the last time we met was when he and his family stayed with me in London in 1987! I spoke to him only last week when he told me his mother, an amazing woman, had just died on her 100th birthday!

I just played an album (scottish music this time) on our record player the other day. Hadn't used it in a long time - but I love the sound quality. And I always liked the pause to go turn the record over - haha! Record listening is always very intentional. I'm so happy to hear that what my husband was involved in (and is still involved in, though with other people now) has given so many people pleasure. I can only hope that my art can make a few people smile, he has gotten to do that for a great many.

Andy, what a delight to stay in touch with someone over the years, even if you haven't seen them. Some people are just more connected to us than others. I have a friend from college like that. She live in the Netherlands and I do manage to once every year or two do a zoom call, I haven't seen her in many years. Each time we talk it is like we just saw each other yesterday.

I'm sorry your friend's mother passed. Even when our parents live a long life it is a huge shift to have them gone. Dealing with the same thing this year for myself, I'm shocked at how different the world seems. I wish him fond memories and time to reflect.

Andy - such a great photo. I struggle with creating still life photos, you have done a really nice job. I think I especially like that you added the blueberries and raspberries, they make the fruit go with the red tile even better.
