On a benign day. This place is a notorious graveyard for seafarers and their ships. First shown on Panoramio but I think not previously shown on ipernity. Better on full screen.

Wondered about the name when I saw the beauty .. but read your comments. Explains it.
The Coast of North Carolina has who knows how many ships on the ocean floor [ not just weather, but pirates ]. The lighthouses along the coast -- each is different -- in shape -color-in how long the light shines. So back when they were used, the length of how long the light blinked told the seamen where they were in bad weather..

Immer wieder zeigst Du uns wunderschöne Küstenstreifen von Cornwall, Andy.
Leider haben wir nur eine Nacht in Cornwall verbracht und sind dann mit der Fähre von Swansea nach Waterford. Und auf der ganzen Fahrt tönte das Nebelhorn...

Thank you, Erich! Over the years I can recall times when the fog would roll in and linger for 2 or even 3 weeks! Not good for all those people who booked a holiday just at those times! But ... when the weather is fine, the scenery is spectacular! I hope you get the opportunity for another visit!
