Great photo of a great artwork! The lines, structure and shadows are really interesting. Reminds me of one of those 'impossible' Escher woodcuts.

Not sure about the granite stonework though. The pillars and step risers look too laminated for granite, unless it has been considerably metamorphosed. it looks more sedimentary to me. Any chance of a close-up photo of the stone?

Thank you. We went to the Escher exhibition here in Madrid a couple of years ago.
And I think you're right! There is so much granite here but the colour isn't far out for some granite works, but I think it might be marble. Probably not limestone as that doesn't last 5 minutes here!
