It may take many decades, Eunice! They are deserted buildings here which I guess were deserted in the 19th century and there, yes, they are beginning to crumble away!

Terrific capture Andy. As you probably know in many rural parts of the UK a building in a similar condition would be snapped up to convert to a holiday home.

I once considered doing just that as a business, Doug; buying deserted barns, bribing local councillors and getting the requisite planning permissions, taking a few photos of any already converted place, putting an ad or two in a glossy mag, and sell it, sight unseen through my dodgy estate agent connections, and hot-footing it out of the country.
I can't believe I just wrote that!

Amazing really, how this building has stood up strongly when the stonework isn't as exact as it could be. Probably made with love by the new husband to give his new wife a home. I do, however, agree with some above - the draughts must be horrendous

Maybe. But maybe I had just gotten off the hills and had a thirst-quenching beer or three too quickly and my sense of balance might have been a little hazy.
But no! This was a morning shot and even I don't get stuck into the booze in the morning. So I reckon your hunch is right, Wally!
