Thanks Dave! I reckon it is a remnant from a spell of granite quarrying many 100s of years ago. The tell-tale signs are there; see the serrations along the top of the boulder; the hand of man, I would hazard a guess!.

Not sure I'd want to be standing under that on a windy day!

I make a point of eating my packed lunch directly under it!

My guess is that it has been like that since about the 16th or 17th centuries, when granite was taken from here for building work. Not before, because the need for granite stone wasn't yet so great and not after because most traces of the quarrying has long gone. But where you see a serrated edge on a block of granite, you can be pretty certain that man has hacked chunks and slabs off it! It would have been some feat to get the very heavy stone back down to the towns on the plain!

WHO has put that rock ???

It was there oir a long time but man has carved all around it and just left this large piece! Thank you, Marie-France!

Stunning boulder in balance! Only a tornado or a strong earthquake will be able to knock it down!

Or man! It has already been knocked about - you can see the teeth edge where the rock has already been carved off!

How did I miss this one? It is breath taking!!
