It looks exactly the same as Provencal lavender but DNA profile has shown it to be a different variety found only in central and southwestern Spain and Portugal.

It's a great colour - did it smell as good too. My neighbour has two or three clumps of lavender growing in her garden and now and then you can smell it.

At the moment here it is all blue with bluebells, but I also love the purples of lavender and this is beautiful.

The Lavender in the mountains will arrive in a month's time (this is an oldie) and I aim to catch it, together with the cistus and the wild tulips. But i have to trust to luck more than judgement and I get it wrong in many years! Still, in late Spring in the mountains there's always something to shoot!
