Andy Rodker club has replied to Rosalyn HilborneSadly this is the cheap and cheerful stuff. It's not for sophisticated chefs as the iodene taste is too strong for many (in my family, only my Mum and I like it).
Chefs go for the more subtly-flavoured, much rarer and more expensive Marsh Samphire.
Be that as it may, at one time this was gathered as a valuable food resource and people would rope themslves up and get the stuff by abseiling down the sea cliffs!
