Long-toed Salamander

This is a Long-toed Salamander, one of the Mole Salamanders. We found him (or her) in our garage, brought him in for a brief photography session and then released him outdoors. He is probably hibernating now. In the insets the long toes for which he is named can be seen as also the green mottling on his back, barely visible in this photo.

OMG. RON!!!
SO CUTE I CAN'T STAND IT!!! *bounces around in full squee*
You found this doll in your garage?!! LOVE!!
GREAT PICTURES! I have never seen such a beautiful salamander in the wild, aren't you a lucky ducky!! :)
I had to grin when you said there was a short pause for a photo-shoot before release...heh...we just can't resist! I have done that many times because...CUTE PHOTO TAX! :D
Thank you for your merry xmas wishes, I hope you had a wonderful one! Steve and I spent ours in the best way possible: QUIETLY AND ALONE! :D The stress of the holidays and bad memories always have me diving under the bed and unwilling to come out for anything! Steve's pretty much the same way.
Dinner was something different...ROAST GOOSE!! We followed the guidance of a pro (https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/how_to_roast_a_goose/ ) but in the end, the skin didn't get crispy and the meat was very chewy, though flavorful. We were very happy that we tried it though, and the next day I decided to help out by turning the whole thing into goose bone-broth soup! I wasn't able to include the entire thing because even our huge crock pot wasn't big enough, but I got everything in there but the leggies. Sliced up the meat very small, added carrots, onion, celery, shredded ginger, tons of spices, turned the crock pot onto low and let it cook for 8 hours! Then Steve pulled out all the bones and other stuff that wasn't for eating, added some more celery, cooked it a bit more and...PRESTO! AWESOME SOUP!
Steve made cheddar biscuits and holy cow, did this meal turn out GREAT! The meat is still pretty chewy but it's little bits now and so YUMMY! I'm glad that my idea worked out because we were going to bravely work our way through the goose but this way we're totally looking forward to this wonderful soup! Also, there's so much that we'll be putting half in the freezer so we don't get tired of it.
Ok, I'm out...all that best to you and yours! :)
