Frost

Frost
These frosted Hawthorn berries were photographed at the facility where our handicapped son lives, just a few miles from our home.

Gabriella Siglinde, Nora Caracci, , Esther and 19 other people have particularly liked this photo

Ohhhhhhhhh!!! These are all just marvelous, Ron! There's nothing like capturing frost in all of its lovely detail and you got a trio of such winners here. The berries look like something out of a snow-filled dream. The frosting on the leaves look just like edge-lighting, perfectly contrasted by that luscious russet color along with wonderful shapes and textures. The third inset is fabulous with the sharp points of frost on the beautifully curled leaf and its neighbors. Heh...most wouldn't see the pictures, you captured them perfectly for all of us to enjoy. NICE JOB! Makes me want to brave the cold for yet MORE pictures of frost. I have taken none this season, not that I don't have probably 500mgs of pictures all-told if I were to add them up. What a marvelous subject. :) It sure was frosty today...thinking there's probably still some out there right now as it's a terribly frigid day!

Finally got my pictures up that I'd mentioned possibly doing yesterday. Heh...anyway, you will be entertained by the story of the campground and also the fabulous/horrifyingly atrocious artwork we found there. The views there...holy cow. The experience...um. But the location was grand for our adventures in the area and I have oodles upon oodles of pictures that will be rolling out as I can get to them. :)

Found your latest note attached to my Harry & David picture. YAY! So glad you got to see the pictures of that garden. Believe it or not, their garden isn't all that huge, nor is it much of a garden in terms of pomp. They have zillions of rose bushes (and develop their own for sale), and some nice areas, but it's not a formal garden in the sense that we're familiar with. NO MATTER. The place IS a MUST NOT MISS for photography, specifically for their roses but also for everything else. There's an (ugly) cement pond which is filled with Canada and visiting waterfowl, and they have fruit trees and the like. We enjoy visiting when we can...so many wonderful subjects to capture!

The rose you wrote a comment under is one of my favorites of them all...the COLOR...wow. Not sure if its fragrance matched but what a looker! :)

Snow on the ground for you? That's COLD! It rarely snows here, though it did a month back as a freakish oddity. Now it's just REALLY COLD...and I know what you mean about wanting to crawl into a hole until spring. Well, we'll just have to make the best of it. And hey, it will be nice for you to have Jennifer coming to visit! :)

Oh boy...when it comes to the holidays, it's like pulling teeth to get me to go out for anything. The frenetic energy, nasty moods, crowds, and all of the holiday merchandising and schlocky music...kill me yesterday! I'm a grinch and I know it as I sit drumming my fingers and thinking stinky thoughts about the holidays! LOL...

Wow, homemade sausage and cheese? Where does Ed live again? Time for a heist!! :D

I love the idea of a Mexican-themed dinner for Christmas. You have me wondering what we will do for our holiday meal. Will need to ask Steve if he's got any preferences...

I looked up Roastie taters and nom nom nom they sound GRAND! As do Yorkshire puddings...happy to see that if we had a hankering, there are keto versions too, hooray! :)

I loved reading about your history with gaming. Funny, I didn't play Myst nor Riven--too young to spend bucks for those games, esp when I was playing Wizardry and Bard's Tale and Ultima! You played dial-up modem bbs games too??? Some of my best experiences and I was just a youngin' then, all of 17 or 18 at the time! One of the bbs' that I frequented had a never-ending story which I loved participating in too. Great fun. Oh, and I'm going to bet that you played Zork too...I played it many times in fact. My father became such a junkie that his favorite pastime for years (yes) was figuring out how few moves he could take to complete the game. From what I remember, the guy who made the game was in contact with my dad, who had the record for least moves. Heh...oh brother! :D (Oh yeah, I absolutely LOVED Civilization and Simcity!)

My ex and I played Everquest in its beta form, then I played the retail version for a while until we broke up. I actually introduced gaming to Steve when we met...we played EQ Online Adventures while we waited for World of Warcraft to go into beta...which we got into and would continue to play long into its retail life, for years. Stopped for a while...played offline games like Elder Scrolls and later Skyrim, and of course, played WoW on and off. Then played the free WoW equivalent RIFT on and off...I know it's a magnificent life-suck, but it's in my blood and I do love the ability to do things I cannot do in real life. It's a fun change for me.

The best thing though, was when we got me my first little point and shoot camera. It was uphill in the creativity department from there. Eventually I'd meet this totally awesome photographer who had a passion for something I once loved as well...orchids. :) It has been nothing less than a greatest pleasure to get to know you through our letters, Ron. :D

Ok, off I go! It's time for bacon and eggies, yayyyy!! :) Pumpkin is in the kitchen with "Daddy" and I can hear her whistling a happy tune, so I'm off to join them! :) Have a great day!!
