Spring in Eastern Washington

Spring is colorful time in eastern Washington. The hills, other wise dry and brown, are covered with flowers, in this case with Balsamroot and Lupine. Balsamroot especially grows in such abundance that hills appear to have a cheerful yellow covering. This photo was taken near where Highway 97 crosses the Columbia River into Oregon. We turned off the highway there for some pictures of spring color.
