Dendrobium petiolatum

Dendrobium petiolatum belongs to the Oxyglossum section of the genus Dendrobium, and is typical of the species in that section with colorful, multi-colored, very long-lasting flowers. As with most of the species in that section, it is from the highlands of New Guinea. In this photo the orange part of the flower is the tip of the lip. The flowers are produced at the top of the older, leafless pseudobulbs.
