Morning at Earthquake Lake

Earthquake Lake is a lake in southwestern Montana along Highway 287 created by a massive mudflow which blocked the Madison River. The mudslide was triggered by an August 17, 1959 earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale. The lake is 190 feet deep and 6 miles long. Dead trees which were killed by the rising waters still stand along the shores of the lake and some of them are just visible in the picture.
