Masdevallia constricta 'Kailyn'

November and December have been great. Had the previous photo published on the cover of Orchids, the monthly periodical of the American Orchid Society, and had two plants awarded at the November judging. This plant was one of them and was awarded for its larger-than-normal flowers. They are about 15 cm from tip to tip, huge for the size of the plant. As is customary with awards from the AOS, the plant is then given a name to identify it further, in this case, 'Kailyn,' the name of one of our granddaughters. The species if from Ecuador and is grown in live sphagnum moss in a clay pot.
