Summer Lake

This is the lake which not only has floating bog or muskeg that extends all around the north, east and south sides of the lake, but where someone has introduced a number of carnivorous plant species that are not native to our area. Some of these have flourished there and we go every year to see them, though they are probably to be considered an ecological disaster. The photo is taken from the east side of the lake where we cross a rather treacherous area of hummocks and bog to get out on the muskeg. The photo was taken early in the morning and is not the best photo I've ever taken, but I wanted to show the lake. A the far end of the lake is a floating island, made, I'm told, by fishermen many years ago that blows back and forth across the lake as the wind changes.
