Not sure I feel all that sad. When all the fine Victorian houses in the London suburb where I lived in the 70s, were destroyed to make way for high-rise flats, that is when I felt deep sadness. I can't see any intrinsic quality, or even practical usefulness, in the about-to-be- demolished building here.
Or have I missed something, Diane?

Nope, not beautiful, no redeeming features, and I'm not sad. However, two things did bother me. First, this town has very little going for it, architecturally and economically, so any time a half-decent old building is torn down I don't like it. It's a very small city. Gutting Main St., the only cute, traditional part of town, seems a symbol of complete defeat. Second, a very fine mural was destroyed along with the demo (OK, that part is sad).
