Sannox Burn
|
|
|
|
On the NW coast of the Isle of Arran lies the village of Sannox to where this little mountain river flows back into the sea. This spot is just a mile away or so inland. Further inland well into the glorious Glen Sannox itself this river is much different. So stand with me on this little wooden bridge, hear the splash of water below and like me, keep an eye open for a quick flash of silver.

Lochranza on the Isle of Arran, Scotland is without doubt a beautiful place to be. Its shores, mountains, castle and distillery all add to the charm. This is taken from the northern estuary side near Newton.

A contrasty view of this little castle here at Lochranza on the Isle of Arran. It was actually a Tower house house dating back to the 16th century, although the original castle was built by the MacSweens in the 13th century.
Blackwaterfoot shore walk

Here on the west coast of the Isle of Arran sits a wonderful little village called Blackwaterfoot and just north by a couple of miles is a great shoreline. Here, you can walk alongside me.
Loch Iorsa
|
|
|
|
Otherwise known as Iorsa Water. A grand lonely walk from the Arran hamlet of Dougarie brings us to this small loch. A boathouse sits behind me indicating that there might be fish in here. A long walk up the valley ahead would lead us eventually to Loch Tanna where the water is used to distil the famous Arran malt Whisky as the waters flow towards the Northern town of this Island Lochranza.
Glenashdale Falls on the Isle of Arran

At the end of a beautiful walk from Whiting Bay. They actually fall about 140 feet (45 metres). The wispy leaf effect being brought about by this very contre-jour type shot directly into the low sun.
Best enjoyed at full size.

Taken from just north of Blackwaterfoot looking North to Tormore here on Arran. To the left is the mainland towards Claonaig. Of course the sky is also paramount here. Enjoy.

A view down the estuary during high tide. We are looking North East towards the Cornish seaside town of Padstow.
The Seals of Kildonan

Here on Arran just out from the village of Kildonan on Arrans South East coast is a rocky shoreline that is home to these common seals. I took this just as the tide was rising yet further forcing these seals to go swimming.

Taken from the tiny hamlet of Kingscross on the Isle of Arran, Scotland on a pretty average day for Scotland.

At the sun fades leaving the days clouds and mountains in dark silhouette we can enjoy the Isle of Arran even without clear blue skies and sunshine. Taken from just south of the village of Lamlash.

A view to this small island from the village of Lamlash on the Isle of Arran. Moments later I had to escape from here fast on the incoming tide.
Goatfell from the Glen Rosa lane

The Isle of Arran on the south west coast of Scotland is said to be the whole of Scotland in miniature. Here, along the start of the stunning Glen Rosa path we are constantly accompanied by Arrans highest mountain 'Goatfell'. At 874m it is one of Arrans four 'Corbetts'
The beautiful Glen Rosa

A wonderful walk along Glen Rosa on the Isle of Arran brings us down alongside its river caller Glen Rosa Water. Just to the left of me here I also glimpse some wild deer. To the right side, out of picture is Arran's highest mountain Goatfell.

A view from the promenade along the front of the capital of the' Isle of Arran', Brodick on the south west coast of Scotland towards its famous majestic mountain, Goatfell. Along the right of the scene in the distance can be seen Brodick Castle. Time for a sit down to enjoy a bit of relaxation.
