A first look at The Giant’s Causeway

A first look at The Giant’s Causeway
As we continue our easterly direction walk to this UNESCO World Heritage site we begin to see the crowds and basalt rock columns. We were to join the throng and have our picnic there too.
Another phone photo, even though I had my big camera swinging from my neck on this slippery surface.

~ The Giant's Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. It is located in County Antrim on the north coast of Northern Ireland, about three miles northeast of the town of Bushmills. ~

Once upon a time, there was a mythological Irish giant called Finn McCool who got himself into a spot of trouble with a high-tempered Scottish giant called Benandonner who had made a claim for Finn’s island of Ireland. I leave the rest of the story to your imagination, Herb.
A fascinating area which was very crowded even when I visited it in the late 60s.
