Gotcha'.. on this intriguing shot Herb'... I am wondering what purpose for such a complex structure - it appears the landings rise and fall to suit the tide.. so I guess they are platforms to board the various vessels which may be tied up to them ?

Glad you found this interesting David. I did not think that this was a floating pier but I know they make them and so maybe you are right. Just that the tops look to be concrete and a floating pier of this multiple nature would be all over the place. This is certainly a pier for big vessels.

A superb view Herb and a fascinating array of fences. I can only assume it is a really busy port, - unless of course there was a good deal to be had on fencing at the time!! All the 'arms' of the pier make a great shot though.

I like this image Herb.........a cross between a coastal landscape and an urban landscape. I think you'll find the piers are ship refuelling platforms......they're very photogenic and fascinating to look at. You've captured them in superb detail.

You know Keith, that one of the nicest things about Ipernity, is that if you pose a question about a photo, you invariably get an answer. I think you have it there about the refuelling platforms. So glad you enjoyed the whole scene.
