Culloden Viaduct

Culloden Viaduct
Also called 'The Clava (or Nairn)' viaduct. An awe inspiring railway viaduct near the historical battlefield. Not the perfect weather here of blue skies or the 'golden hour' but an overcast day that, in its way suits this giant structure. I ask myself, should I have stayed for a train -but they were all modern ones. A steam locomotive -ah, that would have been worth waiting for. Taken on my North Scotland tour of 2014 but getting a new outing here.
Worth a full screen viewing, I advice :)

At first glance it did not look anything special but from here, seeing nearly all the arches, it certainly is. Very happy that you approve my friend.

Beautiful, it seems a roman viaduct but it's only more than 100 years old one.

Certainly was quite extraordinary Danny. It does have a look of a Roman aqueduct I agree. You are right, this was built in 1898 for the rail crossing. I have included extra links in the top description now too.

Glad you enjoyed this big bridge Füsun. Special steam trains do in fact run over here but I did not have a time-table for them. We stayed just some minutes away from here but in the two days that we were there, was mainly far away from this viaduct.

Hi herb,

A very beautiful picture, but while a steam loco would look nice, it would also be very small in comparison.. See www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/44308868 or www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/43703000 Then you would need the right weather conditions to emphasise the exhaust.. So, a very big gamble for a holiday.
Not suggesting what might be done with photoshop of course.....

Best Wishes, and a good weekend.
