Casa di Monet a Givergny

Arrivato nel 1890 nella fiorita cittadina di Giverny in Normandia, il pittore deciderà di acquistare un’insolita residenza di color rosa, con i binari del treno che attraversavano i terreni della proprietà. Nel giardino di Giverny, Claude Monet, amante della natura floreale, deciderà di realizzare un vivacissimo “clos normande”, un chiostro caratterizzato da un ampio viale centrale, profumato da varietà di rose, fiori di nasturzio, tulipani.
Al di là dei binari ferroviari, percorribili tutt’oggi grazie ad un sottopasso, si accedeva ad un altro terreno lasciato incolto; in questo luogo sarebbe nato lo stagno delle ninfee di Monet, un laghetto artificiale alimentato da un ruscello che costeggia le proprietà.

Arriving in 1890 in the flowery town of Giverny in Normandy, the painter decided to buy an unusual pink residence, with train tracks running through the grounds of the property. In the garden of Giverny, Claude Monet, a lover of floral nature, decided to create a lively 'clos normande', a cloister characterised by a wide central avenue, perfumed with varieties of roses, nasturtium flowers and tulips.
Beyond the railway tracks, via a subway that can still be travelled today, was access to another piece of land left uncultivated; this is where Monet's water-lily pond was to be created, an artificial pond fed by a stream running alongside the property.
