L'orologio astronomico

The Astronomical Clock, a Renaissance masterpiece, was the result of a collaboration between artists, mathematicians and technicians: Swiss watchmakers, sculptors, painters and engineers all contributed to this work. The current mechanism dates back to 1842.
The Clock is particularly attractive because of the play of mechanisms that are set in motion at the same time every day. This is the moment when one can see the different ages of life, which, represented by an elephant, an adolescent, an adult and an old man, parade before death. Higher up, on the other hand, the apostles, whose passage is marked by the crowing and flapping of wings of a large rooster, parade before Jesus. In front of the clock stands the beautiful "Angel Column", a highly original representation of the Last Judgement.
