Bald eagle on nest

Bald eagle on nest
A pair of eagles has been nesting in this tree and a nearby tree for at least 12 years. In almost every year, they have raised at least one chick.

Thank you, Pam. One year their nest tree blew down in a storm and killed one of the two chicks. The people at the wildlife refuge nicknamed the survivor "Lucky".

Thank you, Jocelyne. I think this nest will be safe for several years. A similar tree blew down with the young eagles in a storm about 10 years ago, but the adults built this nest the next winter.

Des aigles qui nichent dans un arbre ? Je croAis qu'ils nichaient dans les falaises !

Thank you for your comment, Thérèse. There are no cliffs near here. These birds have nested only in trees to my knowledge. I don't know if they would nest on a cliff if there were one.

Wonderful, and you caught a bit of that majestic head!

Thank you, Diane. When the babies hatch, the adults will have to stand up to feed the babies, then we will see more than the head. ;-)
